Pine nuts are the line that punches above its weight on a price list. Small in volume, high in value, they reward buyers who serve premium channels — but only if sourced and stored with care.
High value, high margin
A little pine nut goes a long way, both in a recipe and on a margin sheet. They are essential to pesto, prized in garnishing, bakery, and confectionery, and carry a price that reflects their scarcity. For a premium or foodservice buyer, a modest bulk pine-nut line can lift the perceived quality of a whole range.
Specify to protect quality
Because they are expensive and perishable, specification matters more here. Pin the origin (Mediterranean Pinus pinea vs more economical Asian grades), count/size, and colour, and agree vacuum packing. Mediterranean kernels are longer, paler, and more prized; Asian grades suit volume applications. A tight spec protects both quality and cost.
Storage is part of the deal
Pine nuts' high oil content makes them more perishable than other nuts. Store cool and dry, ideally vacuum-packed or chilled, and rotate first-in-first-out. We supply in 5 / 10 kg vacuum cartons to protect freshness from our warehouse to your line, with a Certificate of Analysis per lot.
